H@ND International was commissioned by a national lottery agency to develop a self service solution for both attended and unattended locations. The project required a Self Service Kiosk including digital signage, with payment by card.
A key requirement was the ability to print the three types of ticket sold, each veryCapture distinctly different. Initially 3 separate thermal printers were considered for each paper stock, but this was a clumsy solution. We were recommended to consider Stimare, and examined the Stima OEM Triple Feed. We had some reservations about using the printer in unattended locations, mostly around the risk of misfeeds and paper jams.
We obtained a sample unit on trial and began to evaluate. We have been using Custom for some time and were very pleased with their almost perfect uptime. Knowing the Stima OEM was based on a Custom design, and a proven component was comforting. The integration of the printer was completed and a customer demonstration was arranged. Stimare offered and visited our offices in Amsterdam and assisted in the fine tuning of the printer, as some unusual features had been identified in the paper stock.
The paper stock had non-standard feed marks which affected the ideal cut. Due the the inherent features of the printer and the management software, Stimare were able to calibrate precisely the cut, and present the tickets perfectly. The demonstration went very well, with the customer impressed with the seamless printing of each ticket type. We are currently awaiting the start of the project.
Not that the setup was excessively complicated, but the support from Steve and the Stimare team ensured that we were perfectly prepared, on a tight schedule.

Cubic have used the Custom VKP80III & STIMA OEM/KPM302 with Triple Feeder thermal printer on a critical timescale project. We received excellent support during the joint development to customise the triple roll feed to a different width and add a barcode scanner to the underside of the ticket exit. We worked together with Steve McWilliam at Stimare Ltd. during the customising and supply of the transports. Steve gave an excellent service and kept us well informed all the way through the process to achieve a successful project on time. The printers were used in a demo machine for issuing German Rail tickets which has been in service for 3 months.
